Real-time telemetry and operational visibility

SmartCloud provides access to precise real-time data and displays more than two hundred operational values per unit. Thanks to centralized access, the client can quickly respond to outages, anomalies, and performance changes. The platform enables remote device configuration and control, reducing the need for on-site interventions and shortening diagnostic time.

Challenge

The client was looking for a modern way to remotely manage and monitor a large portfolio of generators deployed around the world. The goal was to replace the original, technologically outdated system with a cloud application built on current technologies. The new solution was to enable access to real-time operational data, remote device control, and efficient reporting. The solution also needed to bring digital transformation to a technologically conservative industrial environment, with an emphasis on modern UX design, cloud data processing, and ease of use on mobile devices.

We designed and developed the SmartCloud cloud platform, which fundamentally changes how generator units are managed and operated. We turned each unit into an IoT device connected to the cloud with real-time monitoring, remote control, and efficient reporting.

Development began with a detailed analysis of requirements and extensive technical documentation. Within three months, a working prototype was connected to a generator in Australia, enabling safe remote start and shutdown of the device. We progressively solved key technical challenges including data synchronization from multiple sources, time-series architecture design, and the performance needed to process real telemetry. We integrated the communication protocol and high-speed data transfer via gRPC.

SmartCloud processes thousands of registers per second in real time and supports data analysis, visualization, and archiving. The architecture is designed to allow deployment across hundreds of thousands of units worldwide. We designed and implemented the platform end-to-end — from architecture and data flows through UX to security and cloud infrastructure.
